Job Summary:
The Pavement Engineer is responsible for providing technical expertise and guidance in the design, construction, and maintenance of pavement structures. The incumbent will be involved in analyzing and evaluating pavement conditions, developing comprehensive plans for pavement maintenance and rehabilitation, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. Additionally, the Pavement Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support project management activities and make recommendations for improving pavement performance and longevity.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct thorough pavement evaluations, including visual inspections and data collection, to assess pavement condition, performance, and durability.
2. Perform pavement design calculations and develop detailed engineering plans and specifications for rehabilitation, reconstruction, and new pavement construction projects.
3. Utilize pavement management software and other tools to analyze data and develop cost-effective strategies for pavement maintenance and rehabilitation.
4. Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to develop and implement pavement management plans, ensuring alignment with project goals and objectives.
5. Monitor pavement construction activities to ensure adherence to design specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.
6. Provide technical support and guidance to project teams, contractors, and other stakeholders regarding pavement engineering principles, materials, and construction techniques.
7. Conduct research and stay up-to-date with industry advancements and best practices related to pavement design, performance, and management.
8. Analyze and interpret testing results, such as pavement deflection data and material properties, to assess pavement performance and identify potential issues or risks.
9. Prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations on pavement conditions, maintenance strategies, and long-term performance projections.
10. Collaborate with the quality control team to develop and implement quality assurance procedures for pavement materials and construction processes.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
2. Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
3. Minimum of 5 years of experience in pavement engineering, including pavement design, analysis, and construction.
4. Strong knowledge of pavement design principles, materials, and specifications.
5. Proficiency in using pavement management software and other engineering software applications.
6. Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret pavement data, such as deflection measurements and material properties.
7. Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to pavement design and construction.
8. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
9. Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
10. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present technical information to diverse audiences.
